We will take a number of digital X-Rays when appropriate to give us a full view of your teeth and bones. This will enable us to have a better understanding of your oral health. We will present and explain the images so that you are fully informed of our findings.
We will carry out a thorough assessment of the health, function and appearance of your teeth and any existing restorations.
An extensive gum assessment will be carried out and if necessary we may recommend a treatment programme as well as advise you on how you can manage and maintain good oral health at home.
We will assess this by feeling the joint and connecting muscles for tenderness, Pressing around the head for areas that are sensitive or painful, Sliding the teeth from side to side, watching, feeling, and listening to the jaw open and shut.
We assess the health of your tongue, cheeks and palate, and carry out a comprehensive Oral Cancer Screening at each consultation.
We assess the glands and lymph nodes around your neck and lips, noting facial profile and any abnormalities.
We will discuss your existing diet and lifestyle, including factors such as smoking and alcohol consumption, which can affect the health of your teeth. We will also ask you about your general health and medication.
